MEDIA IN INSENSITIVE CARELESS UNIT  OPPOSITION HIDING SOULS IN DRACULA'S CABIN

##################################

Before you read the blog please read this funny anecdote. Please try to decipher the attitude of the Media when they are caught with the horse tail up and their pants down and the spouse comes inquiring.

Some Things You Just Can't Explain

A farmer was sitting in the neighborhood bar getting drunk. A man came in and asked the farmer, "Hey, why are you sitting here on this beautiful day, getting drunk?" The farmer shook his head and replied, "Some things you just can't explain."
"So what happened that's so horrible?" the man asked as he sat down next to the farmer.
"Well," the farmer said, "today I was sitting by my cow, milking her. Just as I got the bucket full, she lifted her left leg and kicked over the bucket."
"Okay," said the man, "but that's not so bad." "Some things you just can't explain," the farmer replied. "So what happened then?" the man asked. The farmer said, "I took her left leg and tied it to the post on the left."
"And then?"
"Well, I sat back down and continued to milk her. Just as I got the bucket full, she took her right leg and kicked over the bucket."
The man laughed and said, "Again?" The farmer replied, "Some things you just can't explain." "So, what did you do then?" the man asked.
"I took her right leg this time and tied it to the post on the right."
"And then?"
"Well, I sat back down and began milking her again. Just as I got the bucket full, the stupid cow knocked over the bucket with her tail."
"Hmmm," the man said and nodded his head. "Some things you just can't explain," the farmer said.
"So, what did you do?" the man asked.
"Well," the farmer said, "I didn't have anymore rope, so I took off my belt and tied her tail to the rafter. In that moment, my pants fell down and my wife walked in ... Some things you just can't explain."

                             ####################

Some things are just can't be explained. Soon after a young boy is detained for a gruesome crime like a terrorist act, a rape, a murder, a robbery or road rage, the immediate reaction of the parents, more so the mother, is "My son has been a very disciplined boy since childhood." There are two aspects to this psychology in parents. The first psychic reaction is, "How can our son commit such a gruesome act? May be he was truant. He was irresponsible. He was picking his Dad's pocket now and then. He might have pawned my jewels. But committing terror act, rape, murder? How is it possible at all?" So goes the thinking. True! A mother never accepts that his son can commit such a crime. It may not have been there in their family genes. A reasonable reaction by any standards.

The second aspect comes from a "holier than thou, sanctimonious, self-righteous and pharisaical" thinking. It is driven by an urge to defend the indefensible by throwing at will all kinds of alibis. "We are being targeted because we are poor, we are not majority community, we are marginalized, our son is top in the class, meritorious etc.," Once, this argument is put forward there jump the opportunistic politicians. This is not much worrisome. The recent phenomenon of Media jumping the gun soon after  and adding eye-burning spices in the form left liberals, ultra gangs, award wapsi gangs who are ageing fast but do not miss an opportunity to come back on the Idiot boxes again, the Chief Ministers who have no work but to hate and tweet. This phenomenon can not be explained easily. Take Dadri incident. This was mass frenzy. There was nothing communal about it. The whole debate was scripted in TV studios and party offices to try and give it a communal color. The attackers were arrested under NSA and whisked away without giving them a chance to explain the real motive behind their heinous crime. The same gangs that attacked the culprits wanted Afzal Guru defended during midnight waking up sleeping judges. They wanted to celebrate his "hanging day" as martyrdom day. They supported Yakub Memon. They wanted Kasab to have a fair trial. These were mass killers. "It one kills a single person it is murder, if scores are killed it is statistics." These guys are statisticians not mass murderers and statisticians deserved all respect! What a pity!!!!!!

Let us imagine a scenario that is the other side of the coin. Suppose the victim belongs to one of the groups mentioned supra.  The whole country reverberates with cries of victimizing the marginalized. "We love animals but can't resist eating beef and bacon" are traded freely on Social Media and Main Stream Media. Politicians rush as far from Aspen. Governments inimical to the Right Wing Government at the Centre splurge huge funds as compensation to victims's family. If we say it may be a ruse to silence the victim's family to speak truth, we may be termed communal and Rahul Kanwals may demand that law catch up with us. No! You have no freedom of speech as you support Modi. Those who oppose Modi have Freedom Speech, Freedom to eat, Freedom to kill animals, poach birds, debate all controversial issues, call the most respected Prime Minister of the most respected nation a "psychopath" , call him "mass murderer" , call him "Hitler" or "Butler" , a Chaiwala and still this Kanwals remain in a coma.

Let us see the third side of the coin. Wonder! In this when the coin is tossed, you can see neither side as it just stands on its rounded tip without falling. This is the third side. This can not be explained easily too! This is the Delhi lynching. A group of youngsters (let us not take their names or religion) reportedly brushed past a dentist in the crowded streets of Delhi. An argument reportedly ensued. The neighbors intervened and issue was settled. But the dentist was taken unawares when a furious mob attacked him with bats and sticks and killed him. This was a replica of Dadri incident. None knows why the doctor is killed. It is just "Mad mob mania" like Dadri. But there the inexplicable phenomenon started.  As I said somethings are beyond explanation.

The Media suddenly went into Comatose state. They retreated into the ICU (INSENSITIVE CARELESS UNITS) of their studious. There was SPHINX like silence from 24x7 blabbering anchors. They withdrew  their necks like Ostriches as the Social Media storm started brewing. The reluctant CM who rushed everywhere if the victims were of particular caste, creed, religion tweeted that he could not meet the victim's family. Did he try to meet? All these guys hid their souls in Dracula's coffin.

The Social Media started attacking the silence of the MSM. They did not try to color the Delhi incident on communal lines. They asked a simple question, "When you overplayed Dadri on communal lines, what prevented you from even expressing sympathy to the family of the Delhi victim?" was the question asked by the SM activists. Attacks intensified as the day passed.

All the souls hiding in the Vampires' coffins woke up. A counter attack was started. One Senior and tired Journo called them sickos. One young journo trying to take baby steps in Journalism said this would lead to communal riots. His intent might be to provoke one using Social Media. Another lady Journo said she was feeling like sleeping in the Dracula Coffin.

It is the Frankestein's Monster they created during Delhi Church attacks, the Dadri incident, the Hardik Patels, the Kanhiya Kumars, etc., When their house started burning, they are crying wolf. During the whole saga the main opposition maintained silence. They are caught between the devil of appeasement politics and the deep sea of Hindu renascence

It is time for Social Media activists to continue to pressure the MSM to change their outlook and reporting. They are already half-dead horses in the middle of a race to win.

It is a difficult proposition to attempt to write a poem in Telugu grammatically. I lost total touch with Telugu grammar rules which are complex after my 11th class. As I was totally engrossed in reading and dealing in English, this desire to write a poem in Telugu remained a dream. But my appetite is unquenchable. So, time and again, I have been trying and failing in the process. But, I could never complete even a single poem.

At last with the blessings of Goddess Vani and with wishes from my wife Vani, I recalled the grammar rules I learned during my school days, referred a few books, took my wife’s advice, as she knew Telugu better than me and compiled the first poem on Godess Vani and Vani. This is called Champakamala, in Telugu lingo. There might be errors and as I stay in Mumbai, I had no option but to depend on my wisdom. As far as I know, there is one clear error. Please correct, if you have knowledge of Telugu grammar.

Like a creeper blooming with flowers that moves lightly during wind, your words are so mild and touching. As a lady of the house, when you entered our house, you bore your burden with proper judgment and intelligence. When very young you faced unbearable troubles with aplomb. Like the flower creeper, you spread the sweet smell of flowers in my life. I dedicate this to the one woman in my life, Vani.

English: Mother India's children (few) have become a burden on Her. Some are not ready to accept her "Motherhood", alas! Universities (Vidyalayas, Temples of Education) have been turned into platforms for acrimony and discussions. Some fools are considering a blot on their character as symptom of greatness. Those who went to jail turned heroes and their crimes are being eulogized. Oh! Mother India! Do not wail. They are inheritors of the character of Sakuni.

The dried up plant will turn green with new leaves. Patriotism will again bloom in all the four directions. Youth will tread happily on the path that Modi has laid for them. So, there is no reason to worry, Mother!

English: This poem is about anti-national activities of a few guys with devilish intent and character.

Is Prahlad's father (Hiranya Kshyap) an inspiration to you that you take pleasure in hating wise men and meet your nemesis?  Is Bhsmasura (who tested Lord Shiva, his mentor and turned to ash) your brother that you doubt your mentors and meet your end?  Are you Demons adulating Ravana that being Gyanis (Ravan was the greatest Brahma Gyani) you turn thieves and kidnappers? Do you follow the footsteps of sons of Dhritarashtra that you own up the enimity with your ow brothers?

Yugas have changed bbut your demonic character did not. You have a motherly love to our enimy state. Anti nationals! You deserve the stick and no more carrot.

English: This is about how the defaulters of Banks like Vijaya Mallya escape taking a cue from the Moon that borrows radiance from the Sun and escapes soon after beholding his lender.

The early morning rays of the Sun pleased the hearts of people and played mild tunes of music on the hearts of people.  Alas! The borrower Moon escaped to his house in the West. Sun God, the lender of radiance, turned angry and increased the heat of the rays as time passed by.. Alas! The King of Skies (Moon) borrowed and defaulted and the regular borrowers are feeling the heat (with no funding)

The friendship of Sun and Moon is Secret of the Gods. (understand the friendships of Banks and Mallyas). What do we, ordinary mortals know about the money matters? Ask the Mallyas! They know the secret better!

Monday came lazily as ever. Tuesday too passed with goose bumps. Laziness disappeared on Wednesday. On Thursday work went on with doubled up speed.  Friday came very fast again. English: Marriges are made in Heaven and celebrated here. My poems.

The act of bonding takes place in the Heavens. Lords Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva act as High Priests. The elderly Trshakthi Parvati, Vani and Lakshmi bless the couple with divine Flowers.

Back on Earth, the parents of the couple are their Gods. The marriage they do is a celebration both sides. All the friends and relations come and bless the couple.

English: A tribute to the Goddess of Sleep.

The Oracle in the Skies, passing through the highway of clouds, woke up the world. The Kuhu-Kuhu cuckoo, by its sweet tunes, descended the dreamy world into the reality. The flickering morning Sun Rays touched the bodies of the dreamers and reminded them it was dawn. The Sa Re Ga Ma tunes of the sweet wife, made sweet noise in the ears of the dreamy husbands.

The Goddess of Sleep served the tired humanity the entire night and tired Herself went into a sweet retreat to take rest. Oh! Mother! My greetings to You!

2: You Truly are my Relative And You Truly are my Friend.
3: You Truly are my Knowledge and You Truly are my Wealth.
4: You Truly are my AllMy God of Gods.

A question was raised to me in a very casual talk in USA why Hindu Temples do not follow strict rules as in a Church? Or as in a Masjid? The immediate answer that got into my mind was "Ours is not a religion in the strictest terms of the Thesaurus meaning.  I said, "Our Faith is a way we live. We have the highest amount of freedom in observing religious rites. We do not go by COMMANDMENTS nor by STRICTURES". Our scriptures stipulate but do not force the "faithful" to strictly adhere to these strictures.

INVADERS AND EVANGELISTS HAVE BEEN TRYING CONSISTENTLY SINCE INDEPENDENCE TO DRIVE A WEDGE BETWEEN HINDU AND HINDU WITH THE SIMPLE ARGUMENT THAT HINDU FAITH IS OWNED UP BY THE BRAHMINICAL THOUGHT AND THAT THE HINDU GODS AND GODDESSES ARE INACCESSIBLE ENTITIES TO PRAY BY THE OTHER GROUPS. REFUSING TO RECOGNIZE BHARATH AS MOTHER IS PART OF THIS HATE FILLED CAMPAIGN. POLITICIANS TOOK MAXIMUM ADVANTAGE WITH THIS KIND OF ANTI-NATIONAL STAND OF DISGRUNTLED GROUPS TRYING TO FOMENT TROUBLE. THERE IS NO BIGGER MYTH THAN THIS. HINDUISM IS A WAY OF LIFE AND THERE IS NO SCOPE FOR ONE TO CONTROL OR MARGINALIZE OTHERS WITH STRICTURES AND COMMANDMENTS. OR ELSE, WE CAN NOT IMAGINE THE SO CALLED LOWER STRATA OF SOCIETY LIKE ADIVASIS HAVING THEIR OWN RITUALS AND FESTIVALS AND EVEN THE LEARNED GUIDING THEM IN THESE. IDEA OF INDIA IS AGE OLD AND WILL REMAIN SO.

I TRY HERE-AFTERWARDS TO EXPLAIN IN SIMPLE TERMS WHAT HINDU PRAYERS MEAN AND HOW THEY  BELONG TO ALL SECTIONS AND NOT ONE. IT IS FOR THE "LEARNED" TO MAKE THE COMMON HINDU TO DRIVE HOME THE POINT THAT MANTRAS ARE IN SANSKRIT JUST AS BIBLE IS IN ENGLISH AND KORAN IN ARABIC. ALL LANGUAGES ARE EQUALLY UNREACHABLE TO THE COMMON FOLK. AND IT IS NOT PROPER TO BLAME ONLY HINDU FAITH FOR TRYING TO SAY THAT THEIR RITUALS ARE IN A LANGUAGE THE COMMON MAN CAN NOT FOLLOW. HIGH PRIESTS AND KNOWLEDGEABLE SHOULD TAKE UPON THEIR SHOULDERS THE RESPONSIBILITY TO SPREAD THE MESSAGE OF HINDUISM IN COLLOQUIAL LANGUAGES AND SEE THAT THE SCOURGE OF CONVERSION IS STOPPED FORTHWITH.

What does Hindu thought preach?

Matru Devo Bhava, Pitru Devo Bhava
Aachaarya Devo Bhava Atidhi Devo Bhava!

We see God in Mother, Father, Teacher and Guest. And, if the world has billions of population and if any one can be your guest, what is objection in Hindus having billions of Gods? If we look at every woman except one as Mother, what is wrong to have billions of Goddesses? If we treat even toddler that teaches a lesson or two in life as Guru, what is wrong in saying proudly we have billions of Gods? This is besides us seeing God in all animate and inanimate things in Creation.

Hindus believe "Cleanliness is God" And what is wrong if people are asked to come to Temples with clean bodies, clean hearts and clean clothes? This is the way of life of any right thinking faithful. Is it not?

Did you ever wonder how the daily prayer in Hindu rituals work? How do they start? Do we assign the Supremacy to the God we pray or do we consider Him one of us a Guru, a Guest and as a simple go-getter neighborhood. Hardcore Hindu Theists may laugh at me. But that is what Hinduism is easily understood by the faithful.

I AM PROUD TO BE A NATIONALISTIC HINDU - FOR ME MY NATION IS MY MOTHER-

PART II

To prove my point as an analogue, running parallel to the high sounding ritualistic practices, I request you to understand the basic Pooja (prayer) method we offer Him daily.

To start with, we light an oil lamp. Lamp gives light. Knowledge is light.

While lighting the lamp, we say " May this light give me all the good and pleasantness, health, wealth and destroy the inimical forces. Oh! Light, I bow to  you!"

"Deepajyothi Parabrahma Deepajyothi Janardhana Deepo Me Hara Tu Paapam Deepaa Jyothir Namostute"

Om
Meaning: The literal meaning of the mantra is: "I fold my hands before the lord, the maintainer of this creation, in the form of this light. I adore this light, which destroys all the pains resulting from my omissions and commissions".
We start our Prayer with the following Sloka.
Aagamardhantu Devanam Gamanaardhantu raakshasam

Kuru Ghantaravam Tatra Devatahvaana Lanchanm!

Yes! Gurus tell us the Ghaantanadam (ringing bell) is to bring back our wavering mind to the God's presence.  It is right.  But as a way of life consider this.

During night time a Gurkha roaming your streets makes sounds with a stick. Is it not to scare away the criminals (asuras) and create a confidence in the people sleeping or coming homes late? Likewise a police horn. It gives you confidence to walk freely without fear of criminals. So, God, our day's Guest is being invited with an assurance that we have kept the surroundings of our humble  home away from the Rakshasas. "Oh! Aagamaardhantu, Come! Oh! Asuras leave my precincts!" So, do we invite the Gods.  (Cant God protect himself? He can. But as a host we feel it a duty to assure Him. Is it not?)

After ringing the bell for few seconds, we recite this Sloka.

Guru Stotram: Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu Gurudevo Maheshwara - in sanskrit with meaning - Stotra on Sri Gurudeva

- from Vishwasara Tantram (also many slokas are found in Guru Gita)
श्री गुरुस्तोत्रम्: गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णुर्गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः
Sri Guru Stotram: Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu Gurudevo Maheshwara

Om

गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णुर्गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः ।
गुरुरेव परं ब्रह्म तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः ॥१॥
Gurur-Brahmaa Gurur-Vissnnur-Gururdevo Maheshvarah |
Gurure[-I]va Param Brahma Tasmai Shrii-Gurave Namah ||1||

Meaning:
1.1: The Guru is Brahma, the Guru is Vishnu, the Guru Deva is Maheswara (Shiva),
1.2: The Guru is Verily the Para-Brahman (Supreme Brahman); Salutations to that Guru.

See, Sirs! The greatness of Hindu thought? We pray our teachers first and equate them with the three Gods (Trimurthy) "Oh! Guru! I salute you!" And, know it, we never say Guru is representative of God. If anyone claims like that we can dump him. Guru is the knowledgeable. The All Knowing God is our ultimate Guru!

Then we pray to the Lord of Obstacles, Vighnadhipathi.

शुक्लाम्बरधरं   विष्णुं   शशिवर्णं   चतुर्भुजम्
Shuklambaradharam Vishnum Shashivarnnam Caturbhujam

शुक्लाम्बरधरं विष्णुं शशिवर्णं चतुर्भुजम् ।
प्रसन्नवदनं ध्यायेत् सर्वविघ्नोपशान्तये ॥
Shukla-Ambara-Dharam Vissnnum Shashi-Varnnam Catur-Bhujam |
Prasanna-Vadanam Dhyaayet Sarva-Vighno[a-U]pashaantaye ||

Meaning:
1: (We Meditate on Sri Vishnu) Who is Wearing White Clothes, Who is All-Pervading, Who is Bright in Appearance like the Moon and Who is Having Four Hands,
2: Who is Having a Compassionate and Gracious FaceLet us Meditate on Him To Ward of all Obstacles.
Which human being, to whichever faith he belongs, does want obstacles in the way of  performing his duties? None, what so ever. As Hindu Faith is a way of life, we follow this whereas others are either shy of or their high priests do want to impose their hegemony on others by not allowing freedom to their followers to pray for what they need. Is there any other explanation for not praying the Almighty to help ward off obstacles?

Then we purify our hearts and souls with the following Sloka.

om apavitrah pavitro vā
sarvāvasthāṁ gato api vā
yaḥ smaret puṇḍarīkākṣaṁ
sa bahya abhyantaraṁ śuciḥ
śrī viṣṇu śrī viṣṇu śrī viṣṇu
Both pure and impure, passing through the conditions of material life, if remember the lotus-eyed Lord, then one becomes externally and internally clean.
Cleanliness is God. Not only the external, we purify the internal thought process to keep it clean. What a wonderful way to start a prayer?
Then we chant the following Mantra to drive away evil forces and start the Brahma Karma, the Prayer to the Lord.
Then we recite the following Mantra.
uttishTantu Bhhota Pisachaha Eteh bhhomi bharaka
eateashaa ma viroadheana Brahma Karma Samarabhe!
We are purifying the place of prayer by getting rid of the inimical forces and starting the Brahma Karma (Prayer).
Then follows the Achamanam. We recite the names of Lord Vishnu (Shivaya Vishnu Ruupaya, Shiva Ruupaya Vishnave. If they are names of Lord Vishnu, they are names of Lord Shiva too. So, followers of all three forms of prayer the Vaishnavites, the Shivites and the Smartas follow the same pattern of reciting the names). As a ritual we are told to clean hands and feet and take three sips of water while reciting the names. But there is more than this in the ritual. We are purifying various parts of our body by installing the image of the Lord there. Each name we chant represents one part of our body which we purify and intal the Lord therein.

  22. Upendraya namaha
  23. Hariye namaha
  24. Sri krishnaya namaha

why do we purify our body? It is as good as purifying our body at every stage of our daily chores.  That is why, Hindu Pooja represents a "WAY OF LIFE". It is more than praying for our daily bread or believing the God exists only on one side of the Universe.
Daily purification is done on the following occasions.
  • Immediately after waking up in the morning
  • After urination and other forms of excretion
  • After brushing one's teeth
  • Before and after a bath
  • After wearing clothes
  • Before and after a meal
  • Before and after giving or accepting alms or donation
  • After sneezing, shedding tears or blood
  • Upon association or contact with ritually "impure" substances such as blood, semen, human hair, fire, cattle, cats, mice, refuse, etc.
  • After sexual contact with women.

Then we do a Kalasha Pooja. This is necessary as water is the essence of life.  We purify the water with a Mantra and invoke the various rivers that are the life line of our economy. Who said "Hinduism is for the upper echelons of Society" We invoke the rivers daily as a prayer to them to flow 365 days a year and provide irrigation and food to the populace. The Mantra is as follows

6. Kalash Pooja

Gangecha yamune chaiva,Godavari saraswati. |
Narmade sindhu kaveri, jaleysmin sannidhim kuru. ||
Gangaadi sarva tirthaabhyo namah kalash poojaam samarpayaami. |
Here we are praying the life line of the Universe, Water. While invoking Gods in the water pot, we are offering our adulation to all the Oceans, Seas and Rivers and offering it to the Supreme. We are purifying the prayer material, the Idols of Goda and our own soul with the pure waters of all rivers.

Sankalpam:

Sankalpa (Sanskrit: संकल्प) means conception or idea or notion formed in the heart or mind, solemn vow or determination to perform, desire, definite intention, volition or will.[1] In practical terms, the word, Sankalpa, means the one-pointed resolve to do or achieve; and both psychologically and philosophically, it is the first practical step by which the sensitivity and potentiality of the mind is increased; it is known as the capacity to harness the will-power and the tool to focus and harmonise the complex body-mind apparatus.

PART VI

As I said earlier, we treat God as one of our guests while daily praying him. In Hindu households, feeding a guest before the Grihasthu takes food is an old concept With times the practice changed but in days of yore the wife and husband used to wait until a guest arrived to partake the oblation offered to the Gods. "ATHIDHI DEVO BHAVA" .

Just as we treat a guest when he arrives we pray God similarly.  We have sixteen UPACHARAS (services) that are offered to guests. Right from offering a NAMASKARA (Greeting) when he arrives till he takes rest these sixteen services are performed. What more proof is needed to say that Hindu thought is a WAY OF LIFE?

Let us see how we pray God as our guest.

We recite the relevant prayer to the God (or God Form) we pray and chant "DHYAAYAMI" Dhanam Samarpayami. This exactly means, Oh! God! My today's Guest! My greetings to you.

Then we invite him inside. "Avahayami" Oh! God, my Guest! I invite you wholeheartedly to my humble house, the situation of which, I already described in my Sankalpam to pray you!

"Come! Oh! God! My Guest! Please be seated!"  Navaratna Khachita Simhasanam Samarpayami" "Please occupy this gem studded chair."

After the Divine Guest rests for few minutes on the seat we offer him water to clean his feet.

Padayo Padyam samarpayami.

To clean His hands.

"Hastayo Arghyam samarpayami."

To clean his face.

"Mukhe Suddha Aachamneeyam Samarpayami"

Is this not we ask our guests to do? "You traveled a lot of distance. Please refresh with water. And this water is taken from "gangeca, Yamuneca, Godavari, Saraswati etc.,. It is purified with Vedic Chants."

Then we pray the Guest to take bath with all the "Sugandha Dravyas" (the same dravyas are now used in preparation of creams and soaps).

"Panchamruta, Phaloadaka, Pushpoadaka, Suvarnoadaka, Rajatoadaka, Gandhoadaka etc., Snanam samarpayami."

Then we pray Him to take bath with purified water.

"Sudhoadaka Snanam Samarapayami"

Then we pray the Guest to wear the new clothes and other ornaments we got ready for His visit.

"Nutana Vastrani Samarpayami, Abharanani Samarpayami"

Then we request him to wear the new Sacred Thread, that is part of Hindu custom to wear.

"Nutana Yagnoavitam Samarpayami."

After the Guest wears new clothes and new Sacred Thread, the host (Devotee) offers Him Sandalwood paste to apply to his forehead and neck. Sandalwood is "Sugandham"  (smelling great), Sumanoharam (Looking pleasant). To the weary traveler that travels through varying climates, Sandalwood is offered as a coolant. (Now we keep various sandalwood products in bathrooms for guests) . Times changed by Yugas but Hindu way of life remained same . It is emulated by the whole world. The greatest quality of Hindu life is the ADAPTATION to changes. There are no rigid rules in the practices of the Hindus.

"Gandhan Dharayami"

Dhupam is offered with a special smelling incense, that heats the body and hair of the Guest and keeps him away from colds. The best part of Hindu practices is that they leave no chance for the guest to suffer from any minor inconvenience. Same with the God!

"Dhupa maghrapayami"

Then we light the lamp to throw away the darkness. It is symbolic of lighting our souls with the Divine Light. In the mundane, it is to offer the Guest enough light when he partakes food.

""Deepam Darshayami"

Then we offer the oblation, the food prepared in a clean environment. We offer fruits, jaggery, sweet etc., with regular food. The Guest is satisfied with the meal. Then we offer him water to clean hands, feet, to drink, to clean inside his mouth etc., We do all these to our regular guest.

"Naivedyam Samarpayami"

Then we offer Tambulam. Now we offer a pre-prepared Pan Beeda to the guest. But in olden days guest were offered Tambulam with

" Phugi phala (Betel Leaves)  samayuktam, nagavalli (Japatri petals)  dalairyktam, karpurena (Yellow edible camphor used in sweet preparation)  samanvitam Tambulam samarpayami."

Then we pray the guest with camphor lit light. This is done to remove any "bad drishti" that might have cast its spell on the Guest.

"Karpoora Neerajanam Samarpayami"

These are the sixteen types of Sevas we offer to our regular guests in one form or other. The same Sevas are offered to God. What we do in our mundane lives is Hinduism. I am proud to be born in the Hindu Faith. Who is not?  The whole world follows these practices though they are not practicing Hindus. Is it exaggeration that the Hindu Faith showed the world a "WAY OF LIVING"?

PART V

MYTHS ABOUT HINDU THOUGHT PROCESS AND THE IDEA OF INDIA

Swamy Vivekananda vehemently opposed the propaganda of detractors about practices prevalent in Hindu thought.

Myth No.1: Aryans invaded India and ruled over aborigine Dravidians

The first myth was that Aryans invaded India and ruled over the Dravidians, the only aborigines. This is one of the most distorted versions of Indian history and was used by colonial rulers to divide India on caste prejudices and rule. In the Volume III of The Complete Works of Swamy Vivekananda (Lecture from Colombo to Almora), Swamy Jee's views on the subject were elucidated. He demolishes the theory by quoting from the history of contemporary American, England and Portugese who held Africans as slaves and how they kept children born to them in slavery. Here the Swamy Jee, tries to throw the ball in their court. He asks them whether they think if it were a repeat of their history of today they are surmising as having happened in India thousands of years back. He emphatically says “ as per the truth of these theories there is not one word in our scriptures, not one, that the Aryans came from anywhere outside of India” He debunks the theory that Shudras were all  aborigines by questioning the very logic. He further debunks the theory that the Shudras were all non-Aryan as equally irrational. He explains that The Mahabharata gave the right explanation that there was only one Varna in the beginning of Satya Yuga, the Brahman and depending on occupations the society got divided itself into different caste groups. He further elaborates that at the beginning of the new Satya Yuga all these castes would become one again, the Brahman.

Myth No.2: That India (Hinduism) has myriads of Gods and worships Idols

This myth is still prevalent in contemporary India maliciously spread by pseudo secular political, religious groups and self-serving NGOs. In many of speeches Swamy Jee denounced the myth unambiguously. In his famous speech before the Parliament of Religions in Chicago, Swamy Jee emphasizes that indeed superstition was a curse but bigotry was a bigger menace. He questions why people following other religions look towards Sky while praying and why there are so many images of the Lord in their Temples of Faith. He further elaborates that by the law of association the material image calls up the mental idea and vice versa and that is the reason a Hindu uses an external symbol when he worships. “Is it wrong if a man wants to realize his divine nature through a material image?”, he asks. About the many Gods in Hinduism he says that unity in diversity is the plan of nature. While other religions have fixed dogmas to pray the Lord, Hindus recognized the fact that the "The Absolute" can be realized through the relative and all images/idols are mere pegs to hang the spiritual ideas.

Myth No. 3 Myth: India was not a country when the British arrived

Today a few monomaniacs derive devilish mirth in refusing to utter the word "Bharath Mata" and "Vande Mataram".  For these bigots, India does not exist as a single cultural entity but as a land divided by a plethora of political though processes and religious conflicts. What they forget to study is the historic cultural unity that India stood for despite being ruled by various kingdoms represently by various political or religious thoughts. British derived Satanic pleasure saying that their rule united India as one nation. Truth can not far from this flimsy theory.

C.J.H. Hayes, the American Historian elucidates this point in clearer terms. " If we are to to grasp what a nationality is, we must avoid confusing it with a state or nation. Cultural nationalism may exist with or without political nationalism. For, nationalities exist for fairly long periods without political unity and independence.

Bharat existed as a nation in 7th Century BCE as referred in the works of Panini and in 3rd Century BCE according to Kautilya's Ardh Shastra.

Travelers like Columbus traveled East to explore India. If Bharath did not exist then why did they travel all the way risking the tempestuous Oceans? A moot question the anti-national bigots should answer.

“India is not just geography or history. It is not only a nation, a country, a mere piece of land. It is something more: it is a metaphor, poetry, something invisible but very tangible. It is vibrating with certain energy fields which no other country can claim.” - Osho Rajneesh

Myth  4: India was always backward and poor
There is no bigger distraction of truth than this specious argument. It was said that during the rule of Sri Krishna Devaraya pearls were being traded on the streets of Rayala Seema (now in AP). Mughals invaded India attracted by its immense wealth. Nizam V was the richest man in the world. Where did the wealth go?  In 1750 China accounted for one third of world's manufacturing output, India one fourth and the West one fifth. Much of the wealth was looted by the invaders and post independence by the greedy rulers.
"According to a fresh estimate by a trio of senior economists from the Bank of Italy. Indians' share in this is estimated at $152-181 billion, by one calculation. This is only wealth invested in shares and debt securities or held in bank deposits. It is impossible to get a handle on other wealth invested in physical assets like real estate, gold or art." Times of India report.
Time is ripe for the world to recognize India as a major economic power and a sleeping lion. And it is happening again under a responsible Right Wing dispensation.

Myth: Caste system of India is based on birth
There is no such word as ‘Caste’ in any Indian language. The word caste comes from the Portuguese word ‘casta’ which was imposed on Indians during their first voyage to India in the 16th century. What India has is "Varna System" . It is not pre-determined into which Varna one is born. It is the Guna and the profession one undertakes that determines the Varna.  Political opportunists and religious bigots used this imposed divide on India to carry forward with their selfish motives. Hope education and literacy will help rid of this menace sooner than latter. .

                                                   ##############################
Why is Hindu thought more of faith and way of life than strictly a religion with commandments and strictures? You go to a Temple on a Festival Day. You will find a group of devotees breaking coconuts, another group lighting oil lamps, one more group going round the Sanctum  a pre-determined number of times, one more group dancing in front of the Sanctum, another singing devotional music or bhajans, a few falling on all their eight organs (Shasthanga Pranamam), a few thronging the Priest for a prayer in their family names. Every one has his/her way. Unfaithfuls call it chaos. No! In that chaos, you find freedom. A freedom no other religious thought in the world gives. That is Freedom to pray. Pray as it suits your convenience. There is no scripture that says "THOU SHALT NOT". Hindu scriptures say "Thou shalt believe in that ONE GOD manifesting in crores of forms represented by the various creatures in the Universe. And thou shalt pray as thou wisheth" Yes! There are scriptural rituals with the chanting of Mantras. But that is again freedom to practice. Those who have the capacity to learn can learn and follow. It is not imposed.
You go  to the prayer halls of other religions. You will have a code of conduct. No devotee will violate the code. Some may have dress code, some silence code, some the direction in which you pray code and some strict prohibition of fairer sex inside prayer halls code. It is not in the least objectionable. These religions have a GOD, The Supreme but they too have a representative of the God, who is materialistic, who saw the world, enjoyed or suffered from the human idiosyncrasies and based on His experiences evolved a code, which He said would make the world a happier place to live. The only draw back here, if any, will be that this code is fixed and will not change with the times, unlike Hindu thought where there is no code and faithfuls follow their wishes as per the changes that take place in the way people live or behave at various times.
In the Godfather novel the Godfather goes to a High Priest and offers to confess his sins. The Priest asks whether he is ready to stop sinning again. "No" says the Godfather, "I can not. If I stop sinning my entire family will be eliminated."  The Priest asks him what the point is in confessing when he can not stop sinning. In the religion that the Grandfather follows, it is is said that if one confesses his sins are pardoned. How the devout take it is in their realm of thinking. Sin and confess and sin again to confess again is not what the Religion has intended to convey.
Compare this with the Hindu Philosophy. Any religion prohibits sinning as a basic tenet. But Hinduism has no place for condoning sin. It postulates the Theory of Karma. The sin committed in one birth is carried forward to the next birth. Sinning and donating to charity does not rid a human from the karmic effect of the sin.  So, as a way of life, live with thoughts and actions, say Hindu philosophers.

There are people in the world so hungry, that God cannot appear to them except in the form of bread.”  M.K. Gandhi
